Labradorite Phantom Mask Carving Cabochon

Carved labradorite phantom mask. Each piece is cut from rough with the flash oriented to the face, so the color moves across the features as you turn it.
Labradorite is a plagioclase feldspar. The flash, called labradorescence, comes from light scattering off internal layers in the stone. It is directional. Hold the piece under a single light source and tilt it to find the angle where the color opens up.
No two are identical. Flash color, coverage and matrix inclusions vary from piece to piece.
