Behind the Book: The Festival & Event Sales Guide — and a New Edition on the Way
Share
Before there was a website, there were folding tables, canopy tents, and a lot of long weekends on the road. Our founder, Nic Scogna, has been selling at festivals, trade shows, and events since 1997 — and along the way, he wrote it all down in the Festival and Event Sales Guide Book: a for-vendors, by-a-vendor handbook on what it actually takes to make a living selling in person.
The book covers the parts of the business that don't show up in a highlight reel: how to get started, what to bring, how to price and display product, and the day-to-day realities of sales and customer interaction at a booth. It's part practical checklist, part collection of stories and lessons learned the hard way, written for both newcomers wondering if this life is for them and veteran vendors looking to sharpen their approach. One early reader summed it up as "insightful, and practical at the same time" — which is exactly what we set out to make it.
A lot has changed in the festival and vendor world since the book was first written — new sales channels, new logistics, new challenges — and we're currently working on an updated edition to reflect what selling at festivals and events looks like today. We don't have a release date to share yet, but if you want to be the first to know when it's ready, keep an eye on this blog or get in touch and we'll make sure you hear about it.
In the meantime, the current edition is still packed with useful, timeless advice. Pick up a copy here if you're thinking about setting up a table of your own.
